MAKIZUSHI
a.Definition
Makizushi is type of Japanese food sushi roll filled with various fillings . The term makizushi refers to the fact that the sushi is rolled : maki means " to roll " and zushi is conjugated version of the word " sushi " . Makizusho is the best-known type of sushi outside of Japan .
Makizushi arealso refered to as nori maki or norimaki because the sushi rice and fillings are all wrapped up or rolled insideroasted , dried seaweed. In japanese cuisine , this seaweed is known as nori .
Makizushi and norimaki are often used interchangeably as a general category for sushi roll . They can also refer to larger or fatter sushi rolls , such as futomaki .
b. Variation of Makizushi
Makizushi can be filled with a variety of ingredients , including fresh vegetables , fish and seafood , and pickled food . Some classic and popular version of Makizushi rolls include :
- Tekka-maki ( raw tuna sashimi rolls )
- Kappa-maki (cucumber rolls )
- Shino-maki ( takuan ,yellow pickled daikon rolls )
- Raw salmon sashimi and and cream cheese rolls
c. How to make Makizush
There are some way to make Makizushi , that is ;
1. Ingredients that you need
- Maguro ( Tuna ) or Kyuri ( Cuxumber ) or Tsukemono ( Pickles ) anything you want it to be filling
- Nori ( dried seaweed )
- Sushi rice
- Wasabi ( optional )
- Makisu ( bamboo mat )
- Knife
- Cut Kyuri vertically, creating a long and thin Kyuri Strips.
- Spread the Nori on the Makisu
- Spread the cooked sushi rice on the top of the Nori.
- Place the long Kyuri on the end side of the rice.
- Roll up the rice with the Makisu.
- Cut the roll into small pieces.
- Final product.
